How is a digital painting created?
First in the mind, and then using a graphics pen, graphics tablet,
and mouse on the computer.

Digital painting, just like traditional painting techniques, is a method that becomes a valid artistic medium
within the creative process. This work, which involves a wide range of different programs and digital tools on the computer, as well as drawing with
a digital pen on a graphics tablet or with a computer mouse, is not about imitating traditional painting techniques, but about utilizing the unique possibilities of digital media. This gives rise to a distinct, expressive, and evolving visual language. A digital painting is created from a multitude of layers, which, depending on their arrangement and opacity, steer the result in the desired direction. A wide variety of filters and plug‒ins can be used to create color schemes, effects, and moods. One can draw on the graphics tablet using a variety of brush shapes and properties, as well as an almost unlimited color palette. Paths can be used to define areas and insert image elements. The Dodge and Burn tools allow you to selectively add highlights or shadows. In addition, a wide variety of other tools—such as the pen, crayon, clone stamp, eraser, blur, blend, smudge, and sponge tools—are available for virtually unlimited artistic expression.
